Biophilia Research
Design Research - Autumn 2020 - 6 weeks

I worked on a team with designers Sandra Allen (industrial), Anne Knellinger (visual communications), and Michela Brunetta (interior) to observe how biophilia- the human tendency to gravitate towards other forms of life in nature- and spending time outdoors impacts the mood and productivity college students. This was my first major foray into design research, and one of the first major projects in which I got to work with designers outside of my major- something I learned I really liked. This research process was conducted entirely virtually as a result of the pandemic. My group used Zoom and Miro, an online visual collaboration platform, to make our research materials accessible to our participants during the co-design sessions.
